I have had the privilege of working directly with Janice for a decade. Throughout this time, she has consistently demonstrated her expertise and dedication in her field. Janice is undoubtedly the “go to” professional when it comes to grants and prospect research. Her in-depth knowledge and experience make her an invaluable resource for any organization seeking funding opportunities.
Janice has achieved tremendous success in securing gifts, excelling in both private grants and state and federal specialty grants. Her ability to obtain funding in these competitive areas highlights her exceptional skill and commitment. In all her work, Janice consistently displays a strong sense of personal ethics. This integrity is evident in every aspect of her professional conduct, earning her the trust and respect of her colleagues and partners.
I have known Janice Adamson Splawn since 2009 when I was hired by the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas to develop and open a School of Nursing as its founding Dean. As Director of Sponsored Programs, she was my first colleague at the university, where I was a nursing faculty of 1 for my first 18 months. No one did more to support the development of the school than Janice. She is a brilliant grant writer and outstanding professional colleague, who worked tirelessly to help me obtain grant funding to help build and expand the School of Nursing. Because of her skills and dedication, I obtained 4 US Department of Education Title V and STEM grants between 2010 and 2022 to support development of the School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program ($3.2 million), the Master of Science in Nursing program ($3million), support for STEM student success ($3.8 million) and $3 million to develop a university-wide coaching/proactive advising model for underrepresented and low income freshmen and sophomores to increase retention rates and academic success. These grants represent a fraction of the total funding she has obtained for university programs in the sciences and humanities. Her knowledge of the grant landscape, her outstanding research skills, her excellent grant writing skills and her meticulous work on each and every grant are the foundation for her amazing track record of success. She competes successfully across the grant landscape – gaining funding from federal, state, local, private foundation and individual sources and donors. She helps clients articulate their needs and find innovative ways to pursue funding support. There is no doubt that she is at the top of her game.
